There is nothing more relaxing than holding a newborn baby. They are just the right size, are so still and will let anyone hold them. I got to hold a sweet baby yesterday. She is my newest grandniece. She was less than 24 hours old when I saw her.
I've always been a baby lover. I was never one to play with Barbie dolls. Give me a baby doll any day. In fact, I was one of those annoying little girls at church that, as soon as the last amen was said, would run to the nearest baby and beg to hold it. I guess that is why I am so patient with other little girls that want to hold my babies. In fact, I've been asked how I can let little girls hold my babies. I just smile and tell them I know what it's like to be a “baby hog”.
I think it's great to see young girls show an interest in babies. So many are taught to not even think about being a mother. They are encouraged to do anything but learn about loving babies. So, mommas, let those girls love on your babies. You'll be enouraging a new generation of mothers.

Don’t forget to encourage the boys to hold the babies, too! When our boys want to hold a baby the younger ones are usually laughed at and the older ones are treated like they’re perverts. I think boys have an interest that might often be discouraged.
